On Thursday August 15 the National Board of Hadassah-Israel and all chapter presidents were invited to a tour of the President’s Residence in Jerusalem. The tour of the gardens and buildings was capped with a meeting with President Isaac Herzog. National President Rivka Cooper presented a certificate of honor to President Herzog and First Lady Michal Herzog. President Herzog offered words of appreciation for all the good work that Hadassah Israel performs throughout the country and has consistently performed over the years.
The tour began at the symbol of the State of Israel surrounded by flowers. Then we moved on to the sculptures of the 10 past Presidents of the State of Israel and the statue of Theodore Herzl. The gardens are lovely and of course well maintained. The main hall is familiar to everyone as the background of countless events. Along the way we heard about the artwork and amusing stories of the families whose private quarters are “above the store”.
It was a very interesting and informative day with special kudos to our guide who managed to switch easily between Hebrew and English. Thank you to everyone from Hadassah-Israel who was involved in organizing the tour and the delicious lunch afterwards.
